A Whisper in the past...

As the internal walls were getting stripped, a little suprise was found. A letter from an 11 year old girl. Here is a sample of it.

It was such a lovely gesture. We also found out why the purple palace was actually purple.

And not that I think it is linked to the letter in anyway, but this was also found - labelled Christopher 2 and 1/2 years. Looks like it would be from the 70's, going by the carpet colouring and clothes.

Hi,

This is absolutely gorgeous - how special and what a clever idea. A house that's a time capsule. Wish we had thought of doing this before our walls went in!

Yes, I must say it felt very special. She asked us to write back, but didn't give us a last name which makes things rather difficult. Good idea about doing it ourselves. Hadn't thought of that one. So now I have to remember coins under the slab and letter in the wall cavity :-)

Hey TamDaz,
Doesn't she write her mums full name? If you did a little sleuthing I am sure you could find her :)
I wonder if it would give her a buzz at all. Now I think I am going to have to get a biscuit tin and get the kids to write letters and photos for the walls. Did you find it easily? You'd think that it would be hard to find something like that in the tearing down process.

Netadelle,
The guys doing the demolition found the letter and knowing I'm a school teacher thought I would get a thrill out of it. They found it as they were stripping the internal walls. Yes, a bit of super sleuth won't go astray, I just don't know how far I'll get. I think they are only middle names she provides us with. Maybe some door knocking in the street may result in some people having lived there a while and can give me further info.
